Page 2 of 5: Broadband Internet
We provide a broadband internet service into each room. It is BT Infininty, an optical broadband ADSL service.
This is distrubuted in the flat along ethernet cables ending in ethernet data ports in each bedroom Also by wireless throughout the flat
Service Speed
Bandwidth: The speed as advertised by BT is to be 30 to 40MB from 2012 We pay for the unlimited download optionUnite Accommodation charge £15 extra per tenant per month for speeds approaching this
Speed: The speed of connection will vary from time to time.When more than one tenant in the flat is on the internet at the same time, the total bandwidth will be split between them.
We supply networking equipment and will replace any faulty equipment. If problems occur with the internet service we will provide you with numbers to contact BT, and pay for 'IT Helpdesk' support if requested. As calls have to be made from the flats we cannot call BT ourselves.
In the unlikely event of persistent poor internet service, we willl ask BT to install an extra separate phoneline to the flat at our own expense.

Splitter: Service is by ADSL Broadband, ie broadband-speed provided down a telephone line. A filter is used so that the telephone and the internet are used over the same line...
Router in Each Flat: BT Modem with wireless capacity and 4-way ethernet connections.
Cable to Each Room: Cat 5 with an 'ethernet' connection. Will fit into most laptops and PCs.
Wireless Security: WPA security is enabled and passwords are provided
Minimum Specification: A network card and Windows 98 2nd ed/ XP are required for connection
