Payment by Standing Order

International Automatic Transfers

The alternative to payment by standing order is an automated payment from abroad. This is an option if you are NOT setting up a British bank account (see Page 5) OR if a third party is paying your rent. Even though your payments are coming from abroad, you should nevertheless instruct your bank to make regular automatic transfers in the same manner as described in 'details of the standing order', below left.

You will find that international transfer fees will be charged on each and every payment. These must all be paid your end. If preferred, we allow tenants to pay 3 months in advance. If you wish to pay 6 months or more in advance, please let us know.

If an international automated payment is not possible for you, ask us about paying cash into our bank in person.

UK Standing Orders

If your rental payments are made from within the UK, we insist that a standing order is set up. It will probably be free for you to do so.

A 'standing order' is a common form of automated payment from one British bank account into another (in this case ours). With a standing order, you specify the exact payment amounts and dates, then leave it to your bank to automatically transfer them. It is distinct from a 'direct debit' in which a licenced company sets its own payment as it chooses.

Each flat has its own bank account for which we will send you the details. The 10 monthly installments are due to arrive on our account on or before the first day of each month, for the first 10 months of the lease.

For the money to arrive in our accounts on time, the rent must leave your bank account a few days earlier (eg 5 days earlier). This period varies between banks, so remember to ask your bank for advice. The weblinks below should help explain this transfer period. The rent is automatically transferred to our central bank account every month. If it is not there on time, it incurs a penalty charge.
