We represent a good saving on the University of Edinburgh's estimated cost of living.
For 2010-11 they budget £90 per week for self-catering private accommodation plus £11-15 for gas and electricity and £5-8 for internet, all of which plus more is included in our rent. The total of this is £106 to £113 per week (average £109 pw).
Our average price is £102 inclusive of the above, a saving of £30 per month. Our cheapest single rooms are £96, a saving of £57 per month, £675 over the year.

Addtionally, you would save on laundry charges, as each flat has a washer-drier free to use...
You don't have to pay for a TV licence, internet set-up charges, phoneline set-up charges or phoneline rental. All of these, the university tell you to budget for, but they are included in our rent.
Travel is a saving with us in comparison to living outside the city centre, or living in the city centre in an area such as New Town, a bus ride away from the university... you will not need a bus to go to to UoE's George Square, a 10-15 min walk away and the city centre is at your doorstep.
Bus fares may otherwise cost you £13 per week or £40 per month for a student Ridacard. Parking is also free with us, whereas otherwise you would have to purchase a parking permit.
Food and shopping costs will be lower than in most parts of Edinburgh, as supermarkets Lidl and Tesco are within easy shopping distance by foot - passed on the way home from university for most.
If you want to keep fit, your exercise costs will be low here. The excellent Pleasance gym, swimming pool and inside sports centre is less than 5 mins walk away and costs less than £100 per year for students. Jogging is a viable free exercise option as the best jogging routes in any city start just 2 minutes away from us.
